What to Expect During a Private Memory Assessment in Leeds
Last updated: August 14, 2025
Booking a memory assessment can feel daunting, but knowing what to expect can help ease any worries. Here’s a clear step-by-step guide to how our Memory Assessment Clinic in Leeds and Bradford works.
Step 1: Making Contact
After you get in touch, we’ll ask a few quick questions to confirm your eligibility and make sure the service suits your needs.
Step 2: Pre-Appointment Tests
If needed, we’ll arrange routine blood tests and a CT scan to gather essential information. These are done before your main appointment to save time and ensure a more complete picture.
Step 3: The Assessment Appointment
During your visit, the specialist doctor will:
- Take a full medical history
- Carry out a structured cognitive test
- Discuss your results and possible treatment options
Appointments typically last between 90 minutes and two hours.
Step 4: Diagnosis and Support
Once a diagnosis is made, our Support Worker will follow up with you to go over what it means and talk through next steps. This can be in person or over the phone.
Step 5: Ongoing Care
If you’re prescribed medication, we’ll review how you’re responding with follow-up appointments. After that, your GP will usually take over your care.
