Endoscopy & Gastroenterology Unit

Our gastroenterology department is run by specialist consultant Gastroenterologists, who are experienced in the full range of upper and lower gastroenterology conditions and can providing consultation, assessment and treatment.

There are lots of medical conditions that affect the gastrointestinal or digestive system, most of which are treatable, others which can be managed through medication and lifestyle.

Community based

Short waiting times

Usually less than 4 weeks for first appointment.

Opening times

Open Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm and some Saturdays.

Follow-up

Follow-up appointments by phone or face to face to fit with clinical need and patient preference.

Introduction

The Endoscopy unit is based at Eccleshill Treatment Centre, a modern built unit and is managed by Westcliffe Health Innovations.

The unit provides outpatient services for patient requiring endoscopic procedures. The range of procedures include:

Gastroscopy
Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy and EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection)
Flexible sigmoidoscopy

Our site offer endoscopy services to the population of Bradford, Leeds, Airedale and Craven. Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are carried out by dedicated, highly skilled and qualified clinical staff. Our consultants and specialist nurses hold a substantive NHS post within the local Trusts.

About Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is a procedure to look at the inside of your large bowel (colon) using a flexible telescope.

About Gastroscopy

An upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy is a procedure to look at the inside of your oesophagus (gullet), stomach and duodenum using a flexible telescope.

About Sigmoidoscopy

A flexible sigmoidoscopy is a procedure to look at the inside of the left, lower part of your colon (large bowel) using a flexible telescope.
