What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows in other areas of the pelvis. This can cause ongoing pain, period problems, and issues with fertility. You can read a simple overview on the NHS website and on Endometriosis UK.
Common symptoms
- Pelvic pain that gets worse around your period
- Painful, heavy, or irregular periods
- Pain during or after sex
- Pain when opening bowels or passing urine during your period
- Fertility problems
- Low energy or feeling unwell around your cycle
Symptoms vary from person to person. Some people have severe pain, others have mild symptoms but still need answers.
When to see a specialist
If your symptoms affect daily life, work, training, sex, or sleep, it is worth speaking to a specialist. You do not need a GP letter to see us, although we are happy to work with your GP at every step.
How we assess your symptoms
Your appointment is a focused consultation with a clinician who sees this every week. We will:
- Review your history, symptoms, and any tests you have already had
- Discuss practical options to manage pain now
- Explain the role of imaging or further tests where useful
- Plan clear next steps with you, including referral options if needed

FAQs
What is the Endosure test?
The Endosure test is a new non-invasive on the day test for endometriosis not currently offered on the NHS in West Yorkshire.
At Westcliffe Health Innovations we offer the diagnostic test on a self-pay basis. The test will take up to 60 mins to run and then you will be given your result and an individualised management plan based around your signs and symptoms by a consultant gynaecologist. Even if your result is negative for endometriosis a plan can be formulated with you to manage your symptoms.
The test is suitable for all patients and supports diagnosis of Endometriosis in a single patient visit.
On the day patients are required to fast for 8 hours prior to the test. On arrival you will be greeted by our endometriosis technician and taken to a quiet room where electrodes will be placed on your stomach. You will then be asked to lay on a treatment bed in a resting position for up to 60 minutes, this will then record myoelectrical signals. The readings will be analysis and interpreted by our Consultant Gynaecologist and you will be given the outcome of your test and a management plan to take home. The consultant will also discuss all available options for the diagnosis you receive.
Are there any risks associated with this test?
